Biology junior Matt Bramble has spent his summer at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, doing protein NMR research. He is one of 12 students from all over the country who were selected to participate in the NSF-funded Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program. Matt’s work has focused on NMR analysis of the protein dihydrofolate reductase. The work has implications in medicinal chemistry, since it has the ability to determine the slow motion movements of proteins, which can lead to better drug design. See all of the participants and a description of this program at http://www.med.unc.edu/pmbb/reu/2009Participants.htm
