The Senior Capstone Research of Amanda Barrett involves studying invasive grass species and the effect that soil composition has on the invasiveness of the grasses, which are popular landscaping plants. Her work with biology faculty member Joe Matanoski has important implications for natural resource managers, particularly at Soldier’s Delight Natural Environment Area, which is a unique serpentine habitat that is particularly susceptible to invasive species.
